I feel refreshed and rejuvenated after 5 days away in Cornwall. Whilst the weather was predictably unpredictable, the setting was truly delightful.

7 years ago I painted a picture of a bear with a fiery belly for a friends film concept. I whimsically saved the file as 'bear_heart.jpeg and whilst the original concept got swept into the ether, the name has stuck with me since. I guess I like the poetry of the two words.  Today I decided I needed a new Twitter avatar. Fixated with the desire for something simpler than I had, I set about bringing bear heart to life.

Heraldry has historically been considered a language in its own right and whilst we may have forgotten some of the intricacies involved in translation, a logo or marque can still be a powerful tool for communication.

I've had a little go at creating my own coat of arms. What does it say about me? Well that's up to you to read into.

If Andy Murray had won the Wimbledon men's finals he would have been the first Brit to lift the cup since Fred Perry won the championship back in the 30's. All the hype got me thinking about what an Andy Murray clothing marque might look like. The crest combines the stag antlers synonymous with Scotland and (what would have been) his winning shot over the net. The crest is also inspired by the Fred Perry logo (which is in turn inspired by the original Wimbledon logo)

A little poem card created for someone special.

Two hands tucked into
Small coat pockets
One high, one low
Cold elbows knocking

A frozen field
Stretched out like canvas
Footprints are brushstrokes
Our walk is the artist

I find myself in a slightly uncomfortable situation at the moment. I'm coming home from work and, rather than my customary slump in energy, bounce straight into personal projects. I beaver away for a couple of hours - head swimming with ideas - before finally giving up in a huff. I'm unbalanced. My productive/creative chi is off kilter.What ensues is lot's of 'meh' work and an annoyed strop before bed. Must find a way out of this ungainly groove.

When setting up my website I experimented with doing something illustrative for a logo. In the end it felt like too much but it was a good larf nonetheless.
